News & Views from Campus: October 15^th – October 21^st

-Cottage Community Center (30D): Triple Yahtzee (weekly) on Tuesday at 6pm! Canasta on Wednesday at 1pm, Coffee Hour on Thursday at 10am and Dominoes Saturday at 1pm!

–Wal-Mart Shopping returns on Wednesday, October 18^th at 8:30am at the front entrance. Remember to call Sally at extension 4227 and reserve your spot by noon on Tuesday, October 17^th to attend.

-It’s Halloween History Time! Halloween’s origins date back to almost 2,000 years ago, when the Celts of Ireland, Great Britain, and Northern France (Pagan in religion) celebrated the harvest and the festival of Samhain. The day marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter. New Years Day for the Celts was the next day, November 1^st. They wore costumes of animal heads and skins and they believed their Druid priests could more easily communicate with the gods, because on Halloween the veil between the world of the living and the world of the dead becomes very thin. Next week, we will talk about early Halloween festivities in colonial America!

Children of God

What kind of love? What kind of love is given to us from God above? That we should all be called His children. And so we are by his redemption. A transformation has begun, and now continues by his son. The change continues day by day as we His word seek to obey. The process soon will be complete and we shall gather at his feet welcomed by Him at heaven’s door to live with him forevermore.
