Apply for Admission
“Do I need to be on a waiting list to get into to Good Samaritan Home?”
The simple answer is no.
Absolutely, we admit new residents to Good Samaritan Home based on the application date for all levels of care. If there’s only one room available and two people apply, the room goes to the person who applied first. Each application allows the applicant to specify whether their need is immediate. We often receive applications months or even years in advance for future needs. These applicants are placed on an "inactive" list until they’re ready to move. When their need becomes more urgent, their application moves to our "active" list, maintaining their original application date for placement purposes.

Application Process
Applying early is highly recommended for several reasons. Firstly, it increases the likelihood that we can meet your preferences for a specific cottage or neighborhood. More importantly, it initiates a conversation between you and your loved ones, providing an opportunity to plan and communicate your wishes clearly.
Wait times can vary significantly depending on the level of care required. For instance, our short-term rehabilitation area, where residents typically stay for just a few weeks to recover, usually has no wait time due to constant turnover. In contrast, some of our cottages have lower turnover rates and may take longer to become available. We strive to work with you and your family to accommodate your specific circumstances.
Our admission process generally takes 2-3 days. Once an application is completed, a nurse will visit you or your loved one for an assessment. This one-on-one meeting ensures we are prepared to meet your needs upon arrival. Additionally, your doctor must complete admitting orders and provide a medical history; some doctors may require an in-person visit for this. For nursing care, pre-screening by the Case Coordination Unit, a state agency, is required. Lastly, you'll complete admissions paperwork with our team. We recommend setting up your room in advance if possible, so you can focus on settling in on the day of admission
