Scam Phone Calls
Unfortunately, the volume of scam phone calls in the community continues to rise. According to the Federal Trade Commission, imposter scams often begin with a call, text message, or email. The scams may vary, but work the same way – a scammer pretends to be someone you trust to convince you to send them money or share personal information. Scammers may ask you to transfer money from your bank, wire money using a company like Western Union or MoneyGram, put money on a gift card, or send cryptocurrency, because they know these types of payments can be hard to reverse. Recently, we have received reports of scammers pretending to be from the Publishers Clearing House. Please do not ever give out your personal information or bank information to anyone you do not know.

Christmastime Memorial Service
Good Samaritan Home’s Annual Christmastime Memorial Service is on Thursday, December 10th at 6:00 PM.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will not be able to have people attend in-person this year, but will instead stream the service live on the Good Samaritan Home of Quincy Facebook Page.  We will provide ornaments with the names of each resident who died in the past year, unless the family prefers to provide their own.

This service is also open to anyone who would like us to remember a loved one in this way no matter when they passed away or where. To include other loved ones in this service, please call Chaplain Josh Vahle at 217-223-8717 x4491 and leave a message with your name and phone number and your loved one’s name and date of passing.
