News & Views from Campus: June 4th – June 10th 2023

-Homesteading, Women’s Suffrage, and The Wizard of OZ!  Explore the women’s suffrage and homesteading themes in Frank L. Baum’s, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.  The program highlights the ways those themes remain prominent in retellings of the classic tale. It uses brief vocal music elements to demonstrate the many interpretations of this American fairytale; including, songs from the 1939 Judy Garland film: The Wizard of Oz. Watch Tuesday at 1pm on Channel 3 or in the Social Room!

The First Mystery Meal of the month will be Thursday at 10:30am at the front entrance. Remember, you must contact Sally at extension 4227 to book your spot, and as always you only cost is the price of your meal!

Don’t miss American Graffiti, a classic coming of age comedy/drama about a group of teenagers in California’s central valley spending one final night after graduation cruising the strip with their buddies before leaving home. Directed by George Lucas, and starring Ron Howard and Richard Dreyfuss, you won’t want to miss this class that will take you back to the early 60’s! It was nominated for 5 Academy Awards, and inducted into the National Film Registry.

Join the fun on Friday at 9:30am with Ozzie & Rocky, kids from the Kiddie Corner Daycare, and games in the Social Room!
