COVID-19 Vaccine Registration for Cottagers
Good Samaritan Home would like to extend a helping hand to any cottagers wanting to register for future COVID-19 vaccination dates in Quincy. When vaccination appointments become available again, please call Kayla Hoerr, Director of Social Services, at  217-223-8717 ext 4205 to schedule an appointment for registration assistance. The Adams County Health Department asks that a Driver’s License, showing proof of age and residence, be available. A source also informed us that more information on future vaccination dates should be available on the January 22nd local news broadcasts.

God’s Grace
I was at the grocery store this morning and heard a loud crash and something shattering.  Being nosey, I walked towards the sound and saw some people whispering and looking back to the end of the next aisle.  When I walked down that aisle, I saw an older lady had hit a shelf and many things had fallen on the floor and broke.  She was kneeling on the floor embarrassed, frantically trying to clean up.

I felt so bad for her, and everyone was just standing there staring at her.  I knelt beside her and told her not to worry and started helping her pick up the broken pieces.  About a minute later, the store manager came and knelt beside us and said, “Leave it, we will clean this up.”  The lady totally embarrassed said, “I need to pay for all this first.”  The manager smiled, helped her to her feet and said, “No ma’am, we have insurance for this, you do not have to pay anything!”

Close your eyes and imagine God doing the same for you?  Collecting the pieces of your broken heart from all the blows life has thrown at you.  The bill for your faults, sin and folly has already been paid for through the precious blood of Jesus Christ.  God will heal all your wounds.  He wants to gently lift you to your feet again, clean up your mess and pick up all the broken pieces.  He wants to heal you!  He wants to take care of your soul!  We have that same insurance.  It’s called GRACE!

National Activity Professionals Week
Founded by the National Association of Activity Professionals (NAAP), National Activity Professionals Day was first celebrated on January 27th, 1984 to recognize all the activity professionals who care and provide active experiences for the residents in nursing homes around the country. This year, National Activity Professionals Week is January 24th – January 30th. Join us in celebrating our wonderful activity staff this week!

Laugh of the Week
In a Catholic school cafeteria, a nun places a note in front of a pile of apples, “Only take one. God is watching.” Further down the line is a pile of cookies. A little boy makes his own note, “Take all you want. God is watching the apples.”

Weekly Inspiration

“Each one of us has lived through some devastation, some loneliness, some weather superstorm or spiritual superstorm. When we look at each other we must say, I understand. I understand how you feel, because I have been there myself. We must support each other and empathize with each other, because each of us is more alike than we are unalike.” – Maya Angelou

Scripture & Prayer Request

2 Corinthians 5:14-15
“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”
