Christmas Music Galore
Sunday December 4th the LifePoint Church Choral Ensemble will be in the Social Room at 3pm singing Christmas music. Then, come back on Wednesday, December 7th at 5pm for The Crossing Christmas Carolers! As always, we invite Cottagers to join us for these Fantastic Performances!
Christmas Memorial Service
Our Christmas Memorial Service, remembering the ones we lost this year, will be held Wednesday, December 7th in the Chapel at 6pm.
Mystery Meal for December 8th & 9th
Remember, you must contact Sally at extension 4227 to sign up for Mystery Meal on either day. This is open to residents and cottagers, and the only cost is the price of your meal!
The Christmas Tree Facts & History
No doubt you’ve seen the activities staff hard at work putting Christmas trees up last week. Here are some fun facts about them!
-Germany is credited with starting the Christmas Tree tradition as we know it when devout Christians in the 16th century brought decorated pine or fur trees into their homes.
-Christmas Trees are grown in all 50 states including Hawaii.
-In medieval times in Poland, Christmas Trees were hung from the ceiling, as the inverted triangle represented The Holy Trinity.
-Americans buy about 30 million Christmas Trees each year.
-New England Puritans banned Christmas Trees in 1659, calling it a “heathen tradition”.
-A 6-foot Christmas tree takes about a decade to fully grow.
