News & Views from Campus: April 30^th – May 6^th 2023

-Don’t Miss the Triumphant Return of Flame & Embers on Wednesday, May 3^rd at 1:30 pm! They will be returning to us for the first time in over a year due to an accident, so lets welcome back Ted & Doris loud and proud!  

-Next Weeks Movies include a couple of excellent comedies, one heartwarming, one action packed, and both full of nostalgia! On Thursday be sure to check out A League of their Own starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, and Madonna among others. This fictionalized account centers around the very real All-American Girls Pro Baseball League which debuted in 1943 as a response to many Major League Baseball stars being pressed into service due to World War II. Tough as nails former major leaguer Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks) is chosen to manage the squad, and hilarity ensues, which eventually gives way to an unbreakable bond between the ladies of the league.

On Friday at 1:30, enjoy Smokey and the Bandit starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, and the timeless Jackie Gleason! Bandit (Reynolds) takes a bet to get a semi load of Coors beer from Texarkana to Georgia (illegal at the time) in 24 hours, but picks up a runaway bride along the way (Field), and has a career Texas lawman in Buford T. Justice (Gleason) in hot pursuit! Bandit evades the law at every turn in his signature 1977 Pontiac Trans Am, jet black with gold firebird decals adorning the hood. Don’t miss out on all the fun!
