-Movies this week include Blast
From The Past, starring Brendan Frasier as naïve man who comes out into the
world after living the last 35 years isolated in a nuclear fallout shelter. And
don’t miss The Flying Leathernecks, a classic WWII movie starring John
Wayne as a Marine Corps aviator during the history battle of Guadalcanal. Did
you know that Western Illinois University, an hour up the road in Macomb
Illinois, are known as the “Leathernecks”? Then Athletic Director John Hanson
asked the Marine Corps in 1927 to use the name as an homage to his battalion
during WWI. Their mascot is Colonel Rock the English Bulldog!
