News & Views from Campus: April 23rd – April 29th 2023

-Thursday April 27th we will return to the Fireside Sports Bar inside the beautiful Mark Twain Casino in La Grange, MO! Join us for slots of fun and a wonderful dining experience as they feature apps, salads, burgers, more! Signup by calling Sally at ext. 4227 by Wednesday at noon! We will depart from the front entrance Thursday at 10:30am!

-Join us Wednesday evening at 6:30 in the Social Room for the movie Stand By Me. This coming-of-age drama features future & current stars River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland, and Richard Dreyfuss. On Labor Day weekend in 1959, 4 friends set out into the Oregon Wilderness to search for the body of a missing local boy. It was nominated for an Academy Award and 2 Golden Globes, and is widely considered one of the most influential movies of the 1980’s, and boasts a great soundtrack featuring artists Buddy Holly & Jerry Lee Lewis, and 1950’s favorites like “Yakety Yak” (The Coasters) and “Stand By Me” (Ben E. King).

-Catch Illinois Stories at 2pm on Monday as we explore the “Unsinkable” Molly Brown birthplace museum in Hannibal! Molly lived an incredible life full of social and philanthropic work, and you won’t want to miss this!
