On This Day In History….

May 16^th, 1986 – The blockbuster film “Top Gun”, directed by Tony Scott and starring Tom Cruise, premieres.

May 17^th, 1970 – The radio quiz show “Information Please!’ debuts on the NBC Blue Network.

May 18^th, 1969 – Apollo 10 launches from The Kennedy Space Center and later transmits the 1^st color pictures of Earth from space.

May 19^th, 1977 – The film “Smokey & the Bandit” starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, and Jackie Gleason premieres in New York City.

May 20^th, 1932 – Amelia Earhart leaves Newfoundland on her journey to become the 1^st woman to fly solo and nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean.

May 21^st, 1999 – All My Children star Susan Lucci finally wins a daytime Emmy after being nominated 19 times, the longest period of unsuccessful nominations in TV history.   

May 22^nd, 1956 – This day signals the end of an era as “The Bob Hope Show” airs for the last time ever on NBC.

Don’t forgot to stop by the chapel courtyard to see the momma and baby ducks! Their swimming pools are out, complete with ramps for easy access and some rocks to sit on in the sun! They’re adorable, and we are lucky to have the momma every year!
